Start the timeline by working from the date of death. Make note of the day of death; is there any significance to this day? If so, what?
Note changes in behavior a month prior and week preceding death. Most of this information will come from talking with or interviewing family members, friends, and co-workers. However, you will also need to search media reports, social media accounts, and other places to develop an in-depth understanding of the decedent’s life, final weeks, and days.
Major events: Were there any noted major life-changing events? (e.g., a death of a loved one, criminal charges, arrest, diagnosis of a terminal illness, a divorce, pending separation job loss, etc.). Provide as much detail as possible for each event and note the timeframe in which it occurred in relation to the death.
